January is traditonally the time for new beginnings, and we are here to help you to become the very best version of yourself over the next twelve months. Read on to find out how we propose to do that!
JAN 04th 2019
Make 2019 your best year yet!
1. Take that first step
Book a wellness consultation with one of our Health Coaches. He or she will help you to identify your goals, and will create a plan with you to acheive them. Having a starting point like this allows you to measure your progress, which will prove invaluable motivation as you begin to see results.
He or she can advise on the types of exercise that will best suit you, and can build a schedule that fits around your life.
2. Consider personal training
The support and motivation provided by a personal trainer can make a huge difference to the effectiveness of your workouts, especially if you are short of time. He or she will push you to give 100% and will constantly assess and change your training plan, to ensure that you achieve the results that you want.
3. Sign up for a race
There's nothing that focuses the mind quite like an impending public fitness event. The desire not to be last should help to spur you on to train beforehand, and the sense of achievement that you will experience as you put that finisher's medal on will instantly make you want to sign up for another.
Don't be too ambitious - if you haven't run a step since primary school, don't imagine that you'll be tackling the London Marathon in six months' time, but a 10K event should be achievable with a sensible training plan and (ideally) friends to train with.
Why not commit to taking part in the Goodwood 5 Mile Hill Climb run in August? We'll be holding training courses for runners and non-runners of all abilities in the months preceding the race.
4. Train with others
It's much more fun to train with others, and you are far less likely to cancel a planned class or run if you are going with someone else. Why not agree to meet a friend at a local park run, or commit to coming to a Goodwood class each week with someone that you know?
5. Try something new!
It could be Yoga, Boxercise, Golf or running - if there is something that you have always wanted to try, or wondered if you would like, we say go for it! Make 2019 the year of saying yes.
6. Make one small change each month.
Creating a healthy lifestyle is best done bit by bit. Pehaps you could commit to having one meat-free, plant-based meal a week? Or why not go for a brisk walk outdoors at lunchtime instead of sitting at your desk? Or decide to save alcohol for the weekend to give your system a rest during the week? Getting an early night is another amazing thing that you can do for your health and well-being - everything looks and feels better after a great night's sleep!
