Put a spring in your step
The first tip is to be persistent, as mentioned in the New Year New habit article, it takes 18 to 254 days for someone to form a habit, without sticking to a plan for long enough to form new habits it makes it very easy to give up.
The second tip is to reward yourself, if you have been sticking to your fitness routine and achieving the goals treat yourself to something that you enjoy, such as a massage or some new gym kit.
The third tip is to track progress, this could either be through the My Wellness app or by taking notes. Seeing improvements, whether it be running further or increasing the weight will hugely help with motivation and make you want to keep going
The fourth tip is to never feel guilty. It’s normal to miss a day to two, accepting that this will happen will help you be mentally prepared for when it does. The most important thing is to reset and carry on, don’t let a small hiccup be an excuse for quitting.
Lastly, make it convenient, on days when you know you are going to be busy a short walk or 20-minute HIIT workout at home is enough. If you’re too tired at the end of the day to workout, set your alarm a little earlier and exercise in the morning.
Why not try the March gym challenge? Spring in your step, complete 5 minutes on the stair master to be in with a chance of winning a month’s free membership, good luck!
