Enjoy the beautiful butterflies and wonderful wildflowers of The Trundle on a walk with naturalist Neil Hulme BEM. Neil will explain what makes our rare chalk grassland habitat so special, as we take in the panoramic views from this Iron Age hillfort.


Overview

The walk should take around two hours and the length of walk is approximately 1.5km. Please be aware that The Trundle is hilly, so please make sure you wear footwear and clothing suitable for both the weather and mixed terrain.

This wonderful and informative walk will be finished with tea and cake.

About Neil

Neil is a freelance ecologist, conservationist and wildlife guide with a particular passion for butterflies. He works closely with the South Downs National Park Authority, county and district councils, environmental NGOs, local conservation groups, landowners, farmers and foresters, to help improve the downs, woods and meadows of Sussex for the benefit of wildlife. He also sits on the advisory committee and works as a safari guide at the Knepp Wildland Project.

Neil has appeared in, or helped make, numerous wildlife documentaries including Wild Britain, Butterflies: A Very British Obsession, South Downs: England’s Mountains Green, Wild Isles and Wilding. In 2017, he co-authored The Butterflies of Sussex and received a British Empire Medal in recognition of his wildlife conservation work.
