Having your wedding day fall over the weekend where the ‘Beast from the East’ paid most of the UK a visit could have seemed more alarming than exciting, but for one happy couple, it made all of their white wedding dreams come true.

Samantha and Dan
Samantha and Dan tied the knot at Goodwood House on Saturday 3rd March. We caught up with them to find out their highlights from a spectacular day:
“Our dream of a white wedding really did become a reality; a picturesque and snowy Goodwood Estate set the backdrop for the best day of our lives. From the moment we entered the House to the time we left, everything was meticulously planned and organised. We will treasure our memories for a lifetime – our wedding day: a dream come true and perfect in every way.
Goodwood House was the first venue we visited when we initially started planning for the wedding in January 2017. We fell in love with it immediately. As soon as we drove onto the grounds we were blown away by how spectacular it was. The House is just stunning and captivating in every way; perfect for what we wanted our wedding to be.”

For groom, Dan, there were particular moments that will be cherished forever:
“Watching my beautiful wife walk down the aisle of the Yellow Drawing Room, a beautiful room draped in history and art work was certainly a highlight. Another fantastic element of our day was the food! The canapes and the evening food exceeded our already high expectations and are still a talking point for our guests to this very day.”
Samantha continued:
“On every visit we made to the Estate, we were made to feel so special, even in the early stages of viewings and finally securing our date. The staff really are fantastic and an absolute credit to Estate. We would like to thank Rhiannon, our wonderful Wedding Co-ordinator who was always happy to help and assisted us with every detail. Rhiannon even adjusted my veil on the day too! David, the Head Butler, was exceptional and always close by on the day, ensuring all our needs were taken care of."
We then asked our newly-weds how they would describe Goodwood as a venue for the biggest day of your life:
“Goodwood House as a wedding venue is idyllic in every sense of the word. The history and significance of the building and its interior is simply magnificent, the rooms are large with elegant and sophisticated décor. The grand Ballroom is breath-taking and a room where all our guests enjoyed the speeches and probably too many drinks!"
There is so much history inside the House and each room has its own unique characteristics - these perfectly complimented our wedding day and made for the most beautiful wedding photos.”
We always think it is important to remember all of the little moments that, together, make a truly memorable day.
“Prior to the wedding, we found out that our Registrar, Sheila Miles was taking her retirement and our ceremony would be her last. Sheila had requested that Goodwood House would be her last wedding, as it is one of her favourite venues.
Another poignant moment was, of course, the wintry weather that layered the grounds with snow.
“Due to the snow hitting most of the UK a few days before the wedding, a contingency plan was produced by Goodwood staff covering all eventualities; even ensuring our Registrar would be collected if the snow had impacted her journey! We could not have asked for a better service than that! Thank you to all the staff in the hotel who looked after us and our guests, we have made a promise to return at every wedding anniversary!”
Congratulations to Samantha and Dan, we look forward to welcoming you back very soon!
