The Silver Spitfire Experience
- Goodwood Aerodrome
Tuesday 14 May, 6pm
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all history and aviation enthusiasts.
Join Spitfire pilot Matt Jones for an exclusive event to visit the historic Silver Spitfire, ‘G-IRTY’ at Spitfires.com, which is located at the Goodwood Aerodrome. This is a rare opportunity to see G-IRTY ‘naked’ and get an up-close look at her engine. Historian, Mark Hiller, will share insights into RAF Westhampnett, now Goodwood Aerodrome.
Matt Jones, is a Spitfire pilot and founder of Spitfires.com. He will share more about his life of flying Spitfires and how he and his team flew a WWII, combat veteran 1943 Spitfire Mk IX around the world in 2019.
The four-month, 27,000-mile, Guinness World Record-breaking circumnavigation started and finished here at Goodwood Aerodrome and saw the team visit in excess of 30 regions with 15 major destination stop-offs across the globe.
You will also have a chance to get up and close with G-IRTY as you chat with the engineers who are working on her whilst she's in re-fit. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and have your photo taken in the cockpit.
Matt will have copies of his new book, The Longest Flight, available for purchase and signing at the event.
The event starts at 6pm and takes place at Spitfires.com, which is located at The Goodwood Aerodrome.
Tickets cost £95 per person which includes welcome drink on arrival.
