[Video] Incredible touring car battle leads to last lap drama
The St. Mary’s Trophy is easily one of the most exciting races at the Goodwood Revival. The two-part Trophy is for saloon cars that previously raced between 1950 and 1959, and the grid is chocka with Morris Minors, Jaguar Mk1s, Austin A40 and Ford Zodiacs.
Forget aero and downforce, these are the same cars that you would have carted your kids around in back in the ‘50s… And the drivers race like they’re late for the school run…
Check out this video of the incredible last lap of Sunday’s second race, in which Mike Jordan gave it everything he had in an effort to push his little Austin A40 past Grant Williams' Jaguar Mk1. Despite expert driving by Jordan, the little A40 just couldn’t match the Mk1’s might, and following a dramatic drag race, the pair crossed the line, with just a fender’s width deciding the race...
