When you look at a static, silent race car, your imagination instantly floods your brain cells with the sights, sounds, smells and energy of it competing in its prime; then you know you’re looking at something special. And here at the 78th Members’ Meeting, a gaggle of Ayrton Senna Grand Prix behemoths are almost overwhelming in their presence.
Iconic cars, with their instantly recognisable liveries, are augmented further with playing-card-sized Brazilian flags and subtle stencils of the great man’s name. All sat here in the main paddock to be part of a Senna tribute celebrating 30 years since his third and final Championship title in 1991.
With Lotus 99T and 97T, Toleman TG184, Williams FW08C and the legendary McLaren MP4-6, we’d wager there’s few if any cars here this weekend that hold so much sentimental weight to the majority of drivers and fans in attendance.
