[Video] How Mad Mike built his Lamborghini Huracan 'Nimbul' drift car
Mad Mike Whiddett’s insane drift cars will be familiar to anyone who’s visited the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard in the last six years.
It was 2014 when Mad Mike’s first trip to Goodwood was in 2014 with a flame-spitting Mazda RX7 ‘Radbull’, a very sideways machine that returned to shred yet more tyres the following year. In 2016 Mike brought along an 800 horsepower Mazda RX8 ‘BadBull’, in 2017 a 1,200 horsepower, twin-turbo ND MX-5, and in 2018 his old RX-7 but with an RX-3 front end.
It was something of a surprise, then, to learn that Mad Mike’s drift missile of choice for 2019 would not be a Mazda, or Japanese for that matter. Instead, Mad Mike opted for a Lamborghini Huracan, or the ‘Nimbul’ as it’s affectionately known.
We caught up with Mad Mike to hear how he and his team brought the nitrous-powered, V10, rear-wheel-drive Huracan drift car to life, and what it was like to drive it at Goodwood for the very first time.
