[Video] Inside the cockpit of the Bloodhound land-speed record car
Every car needs a cabin that’s simple and comfortable, right? Well that doesn’t change when you’re hoping to drive faster than the speed of sound.
This is no ordinary car, of course. This is the Bloodhound land-speed record car, a vehicle that should break a 22-year-old record of 763.035mph (1,227.985km/h) at some point in the next couple of years. Andy Green, the ex-RAF fighter pilot who set that record in the Thrust SSC and the first man to drive a car through the sound barrier, will be behind the wheel for this new record attempt.
We’ve already seen the crazy onboard video from the Bloodhound LSR’s test run, but now we get to see the cabin up close as Green walks us through the car’s major controls. “The cabin breaks down into two halves: the right-hand-side is all to do with going fast, the left-hand-side is all associated with slowing down,” he explains.
Seeing everything Green has to deal with, all whilst dealing with oversteer in a car going faster than anything else on the planet, is truly fascinating.
