Le Mans drivers, as you can imagine, are incredibly skilled individuals. They are also far from one-trick ponies, often proving themselves in multiple disciplines. You might imagine, though, that being used to big wings, slick tyres and modern brakes and suspension systems they might feel a little out of their comfort zones in historic racers? Well if ever there were a clip that proved that not to be the case, it's this one.
In the green AC Cobra you have two-time Le Mans winner and current Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard hillclimb record holder Romain Dumas. In the silver car you have three-time Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer. Both drivers know how to get the most out of a powerful car and both are very good at working their way through slower traffic. That, as you’re about to see, is key, because even though they’re engaged in an incredibly tight scrap, they’re able to cut past backmarkers with ease. Well, ease for them, and less so for their team-mates back on the pit wall… Breathe in everyone, what you’re about to see might cause severe panic…
If you love these kind of track battles be sure to tune in to Goodwood SpeedWeek, a once-in-a-lifetime event that’ll be streamed live and entirely for free in October.
