The Nürburgring has become the only place that car manufacturers dare to test their latest performance cars, at least in public anyway. That means on any given manufacturer day you’re guaranteed to see some very, very expensive metal pounding round the ‘Ring. But, the obsession with using the Nordschleife to test cars has spread beyond the ones you might instantly expect to be put through their paces in the Eifel mountains, as this video shows.
You see, as well as things like the new BMW M3 Touring, Lamborghini Huracan STO, and a suspiciously high-riding Porsche 911, you’ll also find the upcoming Audi Q9 SUV and even what we think is the new BMW 7 Series.
It’s an interesting sight, seeing such more cumbersome machines make their way round the ‘Ring while cars you might more expect – Aston Martin Vantage, Manthey-tuned 911 GT3, new Honda Civic Type R – dodge round them.
Such is the obsession with the Nürburgring’s longest layout that every car in the world appears to need to test there. But it’s always fun to watch, so we’re not complaining. Oh, and yes, we did say new Civic Type R.
