[Video] Stunning Pagani Huayra Codalunga drives for first time at Goodwood | GRR
As if seeing a Pagani Huayra R on the Hill every day at the 2022 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard wasn’t enough, just look at this. It’s the Pagani Huayra Codalunga, one of just five examples that will ever be made, a £6m celebration of Italian coachbuilders and racecars of the 1960s. It is, in a word, incredible.
The project began when two Pagani collectors asked the company’s founder, Horacio Pagani, if they could have longtail versions of the Huayra. Liasing with Pagani Grandi Complicazioni, the re-branded Special Projects division, the Huayra Codalunga emerged.
How does the Codalunga differ to a regular Huayra? The car has gained 360mm of length, which comes from the redesigned engine and tail, while the lights have been rearranged from their normal triangular formation into an upward-canting line. The front has been simplified, too, with Zonda-esque integrated light units and the oval ‘mouth’ but with no aggressive splitter element below, and the regular bodywork and diffuser at the rear has been removed, making way for a beautiful, 4.4kg-total titanium exhaust system.
As you’ll see, and as you will expect, it’s no slouch. Even with the additional bodywork the car weighs just 1,280kg, and it’s propelled by the 6.0-litre twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V12 from the Huayra Tricolore that’s good for 841PS (618kW) and 1,100Nm (814lb ft) of torque.
All five cars have been sold, so to have one here at the Festival of Speed is a real treat.
