GRRC Exclusive: Chaparral 2E spreads its wings at FOS
The 2017 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard celebrated the game-changers of motorsport. Cars with a level of performance and sophistication that so convincingly dominated that the rules had to be changed to outlaw them.
The Chaparral 2E is one of those cars that definitely falls under "game-changer". Can you imagine movable aero devices in the 1960s? We were barely on downforce, never mind DRS. Yet here we are with this brutal Can Am monster, with a wing the driver can manually stall. Quite crude when you look at it, especially compared to the smooth electronic systems of today but the effects are as bang up to date as it gets.
