Hillclimbing is one of the purest forms of motorsport. Just one driver, one car and a point-to-point blast. Fastest over that sprint is the winner. And that can lead to some of the most exciting onboard action you’ll find anywhere on the internet.
Like this one, where Team Legacy UK takes its hillclimb special Subaru Legacy up the hill at Loton Park to victory. It is a near perfect run in a car that is clearly purpose built for the conditions. In fact we can only find one mistake, when the Legacy understeers ever so slightly at a left hander toward the top of the hill. But that is fixed with a boot-full of throttle pretty sharpish.
A pure sport is the home for some pure racing cars, and this Legacy provides just that kind of thrill as it attacks the course. All you can hear, even over the engine, is the whine of a racing transmission and the harsh bang of the downshifts. It’s a great ride.
