Back in the summer, a lull in the COVID chaos allowed motorsport to return to some sort of normality, with many scheduled races taking place, albeit without spectators. And one such event was the Monza Historic, a favourite of ours in the Peter Auto series. We’ve since featured countless onboards from various cars and classes, and now we’ve found another cracker, this time a racing lap onboard a Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta with Alexis de Beaumont at the wheel.
Competing in The Greatest's Trophy grid, which is open to the star cars of 1950s and ‘60s endurance events, de Beaumont makes light work of the 3.6-mile circuit, pushing the 60-year-old car to its redline. A battle with the green and yellow 1958 Lister Knobbly of Anthony Schrauwen soon unfolds, with the pair jostling to get ahead of one another. However, De Beaumont soon takes the lead and sets his sights on competitors further up the field, the Ferrari’s 3.0-litre V12 purring in accord.
