Classic racing is now back on track, and last month saw the awesome legendary Monza Historic. One of our favourite classic events, the Monza Historic combines epic endurance racers, touring cars and so much more with the incredible 5.8km Italian circuit. The sun usually shines, and the races thrill. And we’re usually right there on the sidelines.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it this year, but the racing was as superb as ever, with the Sixties' Endurance pulling a blinder. Ever since, we’ve been glued to onboards, and this has to be one of our favourites…
Climb onboard with James Cottingham in his 1964 Shelby Cobra, as he chases pole position David Hart in the Bizzarrini 5300 GT through a very hot first lap. The 6.4-litre V10 screams as Cottingham clings to the beautifully symmetric tail of the 5.4-litre Chevrolet V8-powered 5300 GT. He makes many attempts to pass, and finally almost succeeds on the grid straight before the Bizzarrini bites back. Within the last minute, Cottingham takes the lead, ending the ultimate game of Cobra and mouse.
