SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard allowed us to get closer than ever before to the cars we love, in spite of the fact there were no spectators at the event. How? Cameras so close to the action they served as ballast...
Yes, to get you as close to the action as possible, we fitted filming hardware to some of the coolest cars at SpeedWeek. That’s everything from Vaughn Gittin Jr. in the Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400, complete with that funky hydraulic handbrake, to the legendary Emerson Fittipaldi back driving his Lotus 72 F1 car from the ‘70s. Yes, even with no cabin to mount to, we got onboard with Emmo.
In the Timed Shootout presented by Mastercard we also got a 1,200hp joyride with Jake Hill in the fire-spitting Group A spec Skyline GT-R R32. This car ended up going quicker than Tom Kristensen in his Le Mans-winning Porsche WSC-95. Needless to say, you can almost feel the boost. Of course, we also got to ride onboard for some classic Goodwood racing, with Alex Brundle and a Jaguar E-Type in the RAC TT Celebration.
