[Video] Onboard the BRM 160E with Niki Lauda in 1973 | GRR
Stop what you’re doing – immediately. Put down that coffee, turn up the volume and prepare to transport yourself back to the golden age of Formula 1, with none other than Niki Lauda racing in glorious HD back in 1973.
Watch the then-24-year-old take on the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona’s Montjuïc circuit. The 60fps footage was taken from the 1975 film "One by One" and remastered by YouTuber Formula60, who replaced the film’s music soundtrack with an accurate engine note.
In a race that was eventually won by Emerson Fittipaldi in his Lotus 72, Lauda offered a brilliant drive, throwing his BRM around the elevated road circuit with aplomb. Watch from various angles – including trackside and a shaky onboard – as he puts up a fair fight for the title, although he unfortunately later retired from the race due to a tyre issue.
