With exactly a month to go until racing action unfolds at Spa, and just a few days before the first of two races at Silverstone begins, we’ve been looking back fondly at previous Belgian Grand Prix. In doing so we’ve stumbled upon this brilliant video, combining onboards from the 1987 and 1990 to 2019 F1 Seasons, showing how the cars and track layout have changed over the years.
Video: Eau Rouge and Raidillon through the decades
Climb aboard with drivers including Satoru Nakajima, Nigel Mansell, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and many more, and take Eau Rouge/Raidillon flat out.
We all know F1 cars are fast enough in a straight line (200mph-plus down Spa’s Kemmel straight), but the high speed corners of Spa means big downforce, and bit downforce means the drivers aren’t just going quickly in a straight line but ridiculously fast through the bends, too.
Goodness, we love Spa. We also love how much better onboard cameras are nowadays…
