Sim racing developed as a popular thing through the 1990s and 2000s, with plenty of franchises such as Forza and Gran Turismo really peaking in interest of those who love motorsport but couldn’t really afford to go racing in real life. It was the 2010s that took that burgeoning industry and turbocharged it through the wild advancement of computing technology.
Through the decade not only did we get classic versions of beloved franchises, but also brand new, totally fresh games that took the format and pushed it to new heights. Even Need For Speed managed to push out a couple of games that we played and played and played again, while the F1 series started to look like a proper “come back every year” series like FIFA. These are a few of the games from that decade that we still pick up from time to time.
