The Caterham 7 is one of the rowdiest road cars you can buy. It’s quite unlike anything else on the road, exposing you to the noise, sensations and smells of nut-and-bolt performance motoring. Their only unremarkable point? The engine isn’t all that exciting. At least, not according to the owner of this 7.
See, this one has an engine that’s as batty as the car it’s mounted to, a screaming, parping, rotary. The driver extends it fully in qualifying for the East London GP around the Prince George Circuit in South Africa. To some, this will sound like the arrival of a hornet-based apocalypse. To others, engines don’t get much better. There’s no sitting on the fence with a rotary and, as you can hear, they don’t like it when you sit on half throttle either. What a way to get half a world away from the office this lunchtime.
