Caterham has unveiled details of its 228PS (168kW) 485 and 485 CSR Final Edition, a limited-edition model celebrating a decade since the introduction of the first Seven 485 – the fastest production Caterham ever made for the European market.

Just 85 of these cars will be made available in Europe: 60 of the 485 FE and 25 of the 485 CSR FE. Both models are powered by 2.0-litre, four cylinder Ford engines delivering 205Nm (151lb ft) of torque from 6,300rpm, and are equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. Roaring from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds, it reaches a top speed of 139mph.

The 485 is also environmentally conscious, too. Caterham says these are ‘the most powerful EU-6 compliant Sevens available.’ As for weight, the 485 FE comes in at 560kg – 45kg lighter than the CSR version, and is available in either the standard or large chassis layout. The CSR is available only in large chassis configuration with inboard suspension. Track-minded owners can select add-ons including a roll cage, uprated brake master cylinder and Bilstein adjustable ‘Cup’ dampers. Expect all of the usual Caterham tropes around driving experience and pleasure.

Inside, the plush interior comes fully carpeted, with a carbon dashboard, satin black stripes, and black badging. The 485 features Sports Hex Black, Alcantara and black leather seats, with the finishing flourish of Final Edition embroidery. There are five paint colours to choose from, Golden Saffron and Viper Blue are the standard options, but if they don’t entice there’s always Volcano Red, Verdes Emes (which is green) Viola Parsifae (which is purple).

Olivier Jouanne, European Territory Manager for Caterham, said: “Revealing our Seven 485 Final Edition is a bittersweet moment for us and our customers. On the one hand it marks the end of an era for one of our most iconic European models. On the other, with only a limited number available, customers now have the possibility to own the last highest-revving, naturally aspirated Seven to ever be produced, giving them the chance to drive a piece of Caterham history.”

Owning your piece of Caterham history will set you back around £58,000, and for European customers are available to order now.
