[Video] Citroën C15 in off-road beast mode | GRR
Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Shogun, Jeep Cherokee, Land Rover Discovery. All names you expect to see when tackling off-road trails involving axle-deep ruts, cloyingly thick mud and bonnet-high water splashes. Citroën? Not so much. The Citroën C15 van even less so. However, there was a short-lived 4x4 variant, built by Dangel for just one year in 1992.
What we have here is one such conversion, dubbed the Rhino C15, taking on some gnarly off-road trails in France, equipped with nothing more than all-terrain tyres, a front-mounted winch and a snorkel amusingly placed right in the middle of the bonnet. Ranged against it are the aforementioned serious, pedigreed off-roaders, equally well equipped. The result? Well, let's just say that low weight and manoeuvrability clearly counts for as much off tarmac as off it. And when it runs out of ability, at least it's a lot easier to push.
