The first Porsche 911 GTS flew onto the scene with the 997. It sat between the Carrera S and GT3 in almost every respect, leading many to argue it was the ideal everyday 911. It was the same story with the 991 GTS, too, but the trouble was you could always get close to a GTS by speccing up a regular Carrera S. Now things have changed.
Like the 997 and 991, the 992 GTS sits perfectly between the Carrera S and GT3 in almost every respect. It’s bang in the middle of the Carrera and Turbo, too. But Porsche’s approach has changed for this latest middle child. Try to spec a Carrera S to match the GTS and you won’t get all that far – the brakes are from the Turbo as is the suspension. So what’s it like? Is it really the sweet spot of the 911 range?
