The first arrivals at the 80th Members' Meeting | GRR
We don’t think we’ve ever seen so many Lotus Cortinas in one place before, and there are still more to come. No fewer than thirty of them will be racing at this weekend’s 80th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport, which means many of the transporters arriving early at Goodwood are here to deliver to the small fast Ford.
But the Jim Clark Trophy race for Lotus Cortinas is just one of many fixtures throughout the weekend, and the variety of machinery already filling the paddock shelters is astonishing. One minute you’ll see a aero-engined monster from the S.F. Edge Trophy for specials from the early 20th century, then next a wide-arched GT1 car from the demonstration of endurance racers from early this century.
Sticking with the more modern end of the Members’ Meeting entrants, a celebration of the most successful Porsche 911 racing variants runs all the way up to the GT2 Evolution from the late 1990s, and reaches back to the RSR of the early 1970s. Single-seater fans are catered for with everything from late 1950s Formula Junior cars two a two-car Brabham BT52 demonstration. If sports cars are more your thing, then you’ll be looking out for cars from the Salvadori Cup or Trofeo Nuvolari. And we’re only just beginning to scratch the surface...
