It is an inescapable fact that even if you tie all the world's car designers down and insist that they do nothing but look to the future, someone, somewhere, will still design something based on the past. Every car manufacturer does it with almost unnerving regularity.
It's an addiction that everyone must admit, we all suffer from. Take an old design and make it a bit futuristic and we'll all gobble it up like our last meal, desperately searching for that nostalgic hit of familiarity.
This constant return to what used to be can lead us in awful circles of ruined classic designs, but sometimes, just sometimes, the designers actually get it right, using the past as the perfect template for a new take.
