Goodwood Breakfast Club is a chocolate box of car candy in a number that always comes as a shock to the system. Loud noises, exotic materials, six-, seven-, and eight-figure values as far as the eye can see. Picking just a few as favourites from our first Breakfast Club since 2019 is almost impossible. That said, we’ve taken a crack at it…
Audi RS2
Firstly, the Audi RS2. The love the GRR team has for fast wagons is no secret and the RS2 is perhaps the grandfather of the breed. Add to the existing awesomeness of any RS2, the fact that this one shirks the typical Nogaru Blue for a more subtle dark green hue. Me gusta.
Pagani Zonda F
When you have a Zonda in your midst, it is your duty as a motoring hack to do it to death. And do it we shall. Especially as you won’t be seeing this one as it is here for too much longer. Its new owner has been very public about his intentions to send it back to Pagani for the ‘760’ treatment. That means more power and lots of crazy aero and carbon. It could come back almost unrecognisable. Whether that’s for better or for worse will be up for debate…
Lotus Mk6
Because it wouldn’t be a Goodwood meeting without some seriously cool historic rare metal. This Lotus Mk6 is an absolutely stunning example of the breed. That breed being some of the coolest, earliest Lotus roadgoing and race-capable machinery in existence: a Chapman original masterclass in fast car design.
Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
While many will have been staring gormlessly in awe at the Monza – and rightly so – some will have found themselves more drawn to a more subtle prancing horse. That was the black 360 Challenge Stradale that made an appearance. It’s one of the original hardcore lightened limited-run specials for Ferrari’s mid-engined series. It’s celebrated as one of the most extreme-sounding Ferrari road cars money can buy.
Alfa Romeo 75 V6
One of those cars that you see it and just go “phwoahhh”. We love the Giulia QV at GRR and this is the car it drew the most inspiration from. Incidentally, the 75 was also Alfa’s last rear-driven sports saloon before the Giulia. Then you hear the howling Busso V6 fire up and it’s as if the supercars it’s surrounding by melt into your periphery. *Chef’s kiss*.
Mini Moke
Because enough people that come to car events are there to peacock. Why not bring something that’ll simply put a smile on people’s faces? The Mini Moke perhaps more than anything else, save for some of the wackier vintage machinery, certainly did that best.
