Thankfully, we have comprehensive coverage of the weekend to look back on, and today we’re throwing it back to the opening day. While Thursdays at the Festival are generally quieter than the rest of the weekend, the Hill was abuzz with supercar dynamic debuts, historic rallying legends, and a selection of the most successful road racing motorcycles the world has ever seen.
And while most of the entrants got up the Hill without a stitch, a calamity came in the form of the Aston Martin Ulster’s errant wheel, which went the opposite way to the historic car at Park Bend.
But, as visitors to the event would well know, while the Festival is known for its iconic 1.16-mile run, there is so much more on offer. From the pioneering science found in the Future Lab, to the airborne stunts on the Off-Road Arena, the Festival of Speed offered something for everyone.
Take a look back at Thursday and start counting down the days until tickets for 2022 go on sale…
