Thirty Minis, 60 drivers, 45 minutes. The John Whitmore Trophy presented by Sure promised plenty and delivered even more. To drive a Mini quickly around Goodwood, you only brake three times. For the rest of the lap, the throttle is pinned the bulkhead and the highly tuned 998cc A-series engine is buzzing away at 8000rpm. The cars might be small, but the action is big.

The car shared by Nick Swift and Andrew Jordan started on pole and finished first, but those statistic mask the action that was fitted in the 45 minutes between those points. Cars were swapping places non-stop and often three or four abreast through corners. It resulted in close-quarters action and some saves from incredible angles.
