We’re still looking flushed from our few days in sunny Monaco for the biennial historic but tomorrow marks the beginning of part two of just under two weeks of feverous fuel-filled adventures across Europe in search of historic motorsport. We’re off to the Spa Classic.
Spa and Monaco, while both long-serving GP circuits, are almost polar opposites. Monaco is a hijacked Principality repurposed for racing while Spa is a dedicated circuit draped across the hills and valleys in deepest Belgium. What are we most looking forward to as spectators? The noise. The scale of Spa really allows cars to stretch their legs, while the topography funnels the howl of hard-working engines such that Dave in the pit-garage can clock a misfire as his car barrels through Pouhon. How best to preview this? How about some Porsches using Spa’s dips and dives as their personal amplifier?
