From the seventies to the cutting edge of modern technology, today’s elevenses takes you to a development test of the Essenza SCV12, Lamborghini’s newest track-only hypercar. Prepare to have your ears pummelled.

With the Lamborghini Squadra Corse test unfolding at Monza, the development car was driven by none other than Emanuele Pirro and Raffaele Giammaria, with the pair making to most of Monza’s characteristics to focus on testing the brakes and their behaviour.
The SCV12 is the result of the combined work of Squadra Corse and Lamborghini Centro Stile. It’s powered by a production 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine – the most powerful ever – which puts almost 840PS (619kW) to its rear wheels via an six-speed sequential X-trac gearbox. A new carbon-fibre monocoque makes it the first GT car developed to adhere to FIA prototype safety rules, while the quick replacement bodywork features aerodynamics derived from the Huracan Super Trofeo and GT3 cars. Just 40 units will be built.
From glorious close ups of the engine warming up, to screaming V12 flybys (and some onboard footage to come later), the Essenza SCV12 is seen really being put through its paces, thanks to GRR’s favourite YouTuber 19Bozzy92, who received an exclusive invitation to the launch.
