Many a childhood dream has been created by watching James Bond driving Aston Martins, but now there’s no need to wait for adulthood to get behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DB5 complete with Q division gadgets. The Little Car Company has added to its existing DB5 Junior and DB5 Vantage Junior line-up with the new No Time to Die edition, coinciding with the release of the 25th Bond film.

The two-third scale DB5 is complete with an electric powertrain, and loses its roof so that adults as well as children can fit in the car and join in the fun. As with all of the Little Car Company’s offerings, this is more than just a toy: a full-size DB5 was 3D-scanned for reference and it’s full of authentic detailing, such as Smiths instruments. The fuel gauge becomes a battery meter and the temperature gauge reports on the motor temperature rather than coolant. Brakes are by Brembo and Bilstein supplies suspension.
There are numerous ‘Easter eggs’ hidden around the car for owners to discover, in addition to the more obvious Q-inspired gadgets, such as the revolving numberplate. Simulated Gatling guns lurk behind the headlights and the exhausts can shield the car in a smoke screen. Chris Carbould OBE, the Oscar-winning special effects supervisor, has worked on 15 Bond films and was on hand to The Little Car Company during development. He said: “When I saw the DB5 Junior in the flesh, I was amazed at how identical it is to the full-sized car – its stunning. It’s an amazing feat of engineering.”

The No Time to Die edition has more power than the Vantage Junior, with multiple driving modes that allow parents to limit performance for younger drivers. It has a range of up to 80 miles on a charge.
Only 125 No Time to Die editions will be built, priced at £90,000 plus local taxes. Buyers will automatically be enrolled into The Little Car Club which organises driving events for young and old at prestigious racetracks.
