When is a hatchback hot and when is a hatchback not? The rules on what a hot hatchback is seem vague, and very very subjective. So, we at GRR have come up with our own test to work out if a hatchback is hot or, well, not.

The first car to go through this test is the Cupra Born. The first EV from Seat’s spin-off. It’s a Volkswagen ID.3 underneath, but inside it looks a lot better and outside, well, it looks bloody great doesn’t it?
But that outside does seem to promise a lot. Like, speed, aggression and some excitement. Can a small EV deliver those things? Is this the first EV hot hatch? Let’s find out.
