Lamborghini V12 hybrid will have 13 drive modes

Lamborghini’s drip feed of information on the Aventador successor continues, and continues to not include what it’ll be called. All about the car will be revealed at the end of the month but we have had our first look at the cabin – specifically the steering wheel – of the marque’s new 1,000PS (735kW) plug-in hybrid V12 supercar. It looks… complicated.

Buttons and dials abound, on top of the controls that were already on the wheel of recent Lamborghinis, the new car will feature new touch points to switch between no less than thirteen driving modes.

For the avoidance of any confusion, that’s thirteen combinations of setting. Strada, Sport and Corsa are the main driving modes which talk to the aero and chassis systems, but they work in conjunction with three modes for the powertrain, which are hybrid, recharge and performance. Add to also the new all-electric mode and Citta (city) too, for the most quiet and efficient ways to run your V12 Lamborghini.

Only Corsa mode with the powertrain in ‘Performance’ will deliver the full 1,015PS+ (747kW+) punch, happily available with all the systems off too, which is intended for use on the track and will drain the car’s battery quickly. For fun road driving, Sport should be best with around 900PS (662kW) available.

Stiffer, lighter, more responsive and much more powerful, the LB744 as it is known now (but hopefully not for too much longer) should prove to be a sensational machine. We’re counting down the days and hours to its reveal.
