Back at the Automobili Pininfarina Battista's world debut at the 77th Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport in 2019, Nick Heidfeld told us the car's targeted acceleration figure for 0-62mph was two seconds or less. Fast forward almost four years and the marque has confirmed exactly how quick it is. The answer is, record-breakingly quick. Announced at the car’s UAE middle-eastern debut, a neck-breaking 0-62mph time of 1.86 seconds.

That’s just a hair quicker than the Rimac Nevera, which is down as hitting 62mph in 1.97 seconds. The Battista then goes on to crack 124mph in 4.75 seconds, while it also sets a world record for braking, getting from 62mph to zero in just 31 metres.

While the Battista pips the Nevera in terms of acceleration, it can’t take on the Lotus Evija power-wise. Hethel’s hypercar has over 2,000PS to its name, while the Nevera and Battista – which do share some underpinnings – have around 1,900PS. The Battista can in part thank its incredible 2,340Nm torque figure for its accelerative chops. Like the Nevera, the Battista is limited to a top speed under 220mph.
When you’re not deploying all that performance, what Pininfarina describes as a hyper GT is also capable of driving for 295 miles, with the driver in commensurate comfort. Should you fancy a Battista in your garage, it’ll set you back a cool £1.9million.
