Taking an early lead in ‘noise of the day’ was the astounding Aston Martin Valkyrie as it looked exceptionally lively as it darted and weaved up the damp and slippery hillclimb early this morning at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
Video: Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar debuts at FOS
Making its public debut, the carbon-fibre hypercar with its raucous V12 engine looked purposeful and every bit the other-worldly speed machine it was always meant to be. Its mid-mounted naturally-aspirated Cosworth 6.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor capable of sending 1,160PS (865kW) and 900Nm (666lb ft) to the rear wheels via a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission certainly looked a handful in the drying conditions. And all the more impressive was the fact we know the Valkyrie was taking it easy…
Able to get from 0-62mph in a claimed 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250mph, this road-legal spaceship will be a very rare sighting indeed with only 150 examples to be built. A further 40 track-only AMR Pro variants are planned for production and likely set to demolish track records all around the world. What a treat to have it here this weekend!
