Video: An incredible touring car shuffle in the St. Mary's Trophy

Madness, absolute madness. Words you could use to describe pretty much every St. Mary’s Trophy we’ve ever held. Whether it’s the earlier cars of the 1950s or the later 1960s race, it’s always brilliant madness.

In the opening laps of the second part of the 2018 race there was the usual amount of absolute chaos, with the two Cortinas of Steve Soper and Mike Jordan, which had started on the front row, finding themselves swallowed up by a field of ‘60s touring cars.

At the front Roger Wills, a winner in several Goodwood Revivals in both single seaters and sportscar, found himself fighting with the youngster Olivier Hart in the stunning Alfa Romeo GTA. Interestingly his team-mate, World Touring Car racer Tom Coronel was willing to bet that the younger Hart would finish as the winner, and it was obvious why he was so sure pretty early on… that is until Hart followed Wills wide onto the grass at St. Mary’s.
