Video: Nick Swift goes giant-slaying in his Mini

21st March 2017
Adam Wilkins

Is there any more animated driver than Nick Swift? Often the camera is on him, but in this video, we get to see what he sees when he's making his Mini go as fast as it possibly can.

This is the Gerry Marshall Trophy sprint race, where his 1275GT is up against the likes of Rover SD1s, Ford Capris and a BMW 530i. Watch as he elbows his way past the big Rover at Lavant and tails the BMW oh-so-closely at Woodcote (and many other places... it's a display of the art of slipstreaming).

Keep watching until the end to see just how happy Swift was with his efforts. Although he never actually got past the BMW of Nick Padmore, he had a lot of fun keeping the bigger car honest.
