Plenty of machines from motorsport’s rich and historic tapestry have looked sensational in bare metal, unpainted carbon fibre or primer grey, but the majority are defined by a memorable colour scheme. Deciding whether bright and bold, solid or stripy is best is subjective and emotive; nothing will appeal to everyone, but there are some that resonated in period and continue to stop fans in their tracks.
