It’s unlikely you’ll see a DTM car roll if the driver takes a corner too fast, which, all things considered, is very good indeed. But, bring things down to slot car size and one slip of the trigger finger will send the car spearing off track for several hundred tiny metres. When it comes to entertainment, this level of jeopardy puts slot car DTM above the real series.
Video: The ultimate slot car garden circuit?
This is the inaugural race at the Borussia-Ring, a track built in a back garden and so named because it is located near the former Borussia colliery. As a result, keen gardeners will notice there are some rather fine plants dotted around. There’s also a Minion wellington boot, which would probably tower several stories high if it existed trackside in the real DTM, and some giant leaves that prove highly treacherous.
What of the cars? They’re 1/32 scale, with perfectly detailed liveries and cars from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. To say we’re envious of this set-up would be an understatement.
