This could be, and we don’t say this lightly, Porsche’s last great petrol-powered sportscar, if not one of. The existence of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS has been officially admitted by Porsche, with a Nürburgring lap time and a full onboard video.

Weirdly enough, it’s not the time that matters in the least here. It’s the sound. Does that sound like the somewhat stifled 9A2 Evo 4.0-litre engine found in the standard GT4 to you? Not a bit of it. Muffled exhaust woofle is replaced with ear-splitting induction noise familiar to those who have experience with a recent GT3. Yes, it appears the Cayman is finally getting the GT3 engine it’s always deserved. It also appears to get a vented bonnet in the style of the 991.2 GT3 RS and a swan-neck rear wing like the new GT3.
So how much are you looking forward to the reveal of the Cayman GT4 RS? Would you have one over a new 911 GT3?
