Video: Fighting a Cayenne Turbo GT around Hockenheim

After 20 seconds of jazzy music, we jump straight into the lap, flying across the kerb on the exit of the final corner before bowling down towards turn one. Admittedly, the driver takes some liberties with the first corner exit, heading wide in a way no one would be able to at Goodwood unless they particularly wanted to inspect the tyres at great speed, but you can hear from the tyres just how much load is being put the car. There’s some understeer, there’s some hopping over bumps as the stiff suspension attempts to soak it all up, and there’s even snaps of oversteer before the all-wheel-drive system sends power to the front wheels again. It’s a serious handful.

Then there’s the noise of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, pushing 631PS (464kW) and 850Nm (627lb ft) of torque. With all that power it’s little wonder the driver is caning through some corners on the limiter in fifth gear…
