Special Edition marks the end for Polestar 1

As beautiful as the Polestar 1 is, it’s quite subtle by the standards of some machinery you’ll pay the same six-figure sum for. If you love the idea of the Polestar but want it to be a bit more ‘in your face’, help might be at hand. This is the Polestar 1 Special Edition.

If you’ve seen the pictures, you perhaps don’t need telling what the Special Edition brings to the table. For your reference, there’s no fancy name for the colour. They just call it “bespoke matte gold”. The callipers match, as does the stitching in the cabin.

Exactly how special is it? Well, just 25 are to be made, as a celebration of the Polestar 1, as it comes to the end of its production run. We expect Goldmember already has his order in.

“It’s hard to believe that our beautiful halo car comes to the end of its production life later this year,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

“We pushed boundaries with this car, not only in terms of engineering but also in its design and execution. Polestar 1 set the tone for our brand and its genes are evident in Polestar 2 – as they will be in our future cars to come.”

The price? We’re not sure, but likely a tad more than the £139,000 you’ll need for the regular Polestar 1.

What we do know is the performance, which remains the same as the standard car: 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph courtesy of a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with 600PS (441kW) and 1,000Nm (738lb ft) of torque.
