Jaguar Classic Car Heritage
Jaguar Cars began life as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922. Founded by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Lyons and William Walmsley, the pair would part ways before Lyons would go on to run S.S. Cars Limited. It was here the first Jaguar nameplate would appear on a SS 2½-litre sports saloon. Later followed by the stunning SS Jaguar 100, a two-seater, 3½-litre sportscar.
In 1945, the official name change to Jaguar Cars Limited was agreed. Creating a classic British automotive brand. Soon after in 1948, the legendary XK120 was launched. Its 120mph top speed making it the world’s fastest production car. The Jaguar XK140 and XK150 would follow in its tradition.
The marque achieved sportscar success at Le Mans with the Jaguar C-type in 1951 and 1953, then again in 1955, 1956 and 1957 with the Jaguar D-type. The 1960s saw the development of arguably one of the most iconic classic sportscars of all time. The Jaguar E-type. A car as potent as it is pretty.
