Video: Screaming Brabham-Ford BT28 rages around Goodwood

Formula 3 was, arguably at its best during the 1960s. The racing was fierce and the cars were absolutely gorgeous. And in recognition of this wonderful era, each year the Goodwood Members’ Meeting pays tribute to the swinging sixties with the Derek Bell Cup, named after one of the decade’s most famous racers, and the Goodwood regular himself.

Last year’s edition was nothing short of spectacular, with the likes of Brabham-Ford, Lotus-Ford, Chevron-Ford and many more lining up in a 20-plus strong grid.

Here we see the leader of the pack during practice, a 1968 Brabham-Ford BT28, piloted by Ben Mitchell. With less than eight minutes of the session left, Mitchell pushes past Andrew Hibberd to take the top spot. He’s on the absolute edge.

How did the Mitchell get on in the race? Well he managed to push the little Brabham to second place, beaten only by the man who came second in practice: Andrew Hibberd.
