A floodlit Daytona Speedway and a couple of classic Porsches – what more could you want?
Video: Onboard a custom 911 screaming around Daytona
Today we’re looking back almost two years to the 2017 Historic Sportscar Racing Classic 24 at Daytona, with this awesome onboard from Thomas Merrill.
At the wheel of car no. 99, a screaming 1974 Porsche 911 with upgraded parts from a 1988 993, Merrill drives the midnight stint of the 2017 HSR Classic 24 Hour at Daytona. For much of the race he battles with another 911, and while Merrill’s technique is impressive, on several occasions cutting into the apexes and ahead of his adversary, his opponent appears to have the horsepower advantage, barrelling by on the straights and banked turns of Daytona.
Ultimately, though, Merrill and his co-driver Mike Gaulke went on to take the Group F Win.
