Pikes Peak is legendary for many things, not least the speed with which drivers propel vehicles up its 12.42-miles of snaking, barrier-less tarmac. Known as The Race to the Clouds, the annual automotive and motorcycle hillclimb attracts dozens of daredevils at the helms of powerful and aerodynamic contenders.

But what is the time to beat? The speed will shock you… Take 20 minutes this morning to relive the 10 fastest four-wheeled Pikes Peak runs, beginning with Rhys Millen, who in 2015 achieved a time of 9:07.222 in a PP03 from Latvian engineering firm Drive eO. Millen features twice more in the list, setting a time of 9:02.192 in 2013 in a Hyundai RMR PM 580-T, and taking fifth place on the list in 2016, when he set a time of 8:57.118 in a Drive eO PP100.
Also on the list is nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb, who takes second place with his 8:13.878 run in a 2013 Peugeot 208 T16 PP. But by far the standout name is Goodwood regular Romain Dumas, who takes eighth, seventh, fourth and first respectively, setting the fastest ever run of 7:57.148 in 2018, at the helm of the all-electric Volkswagen ID.R.
Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day.
