The Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard will crown its first ever Goodwood Festival of Speed Drift Champion in 2017, as six stars of the world of sliding – including FOS regulars ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett and Vaughn Gittin Jr and current Formula Drift championship leader James Deane – battle for supremacy on the Goodwood hillclimb.

Mad Mike and Vaughn Gittin Jr to battle in first ever FOS Drift competition!
The competition will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event, which takes place from June 29-July 2, with an astonishing variety of cars going head-to-head for victory from manufacturers including Ford, Mazda, Dodge and Nissan.
Each competitor will be judged by a mixture of public vote and a speed trap on the first corner of the famous hillclimb – with cars expected to have begun their drifting spectacle by the time they enter the trap.
Alongside Vaughn Gittin’s mighty RTR Ford Mustang, which put on a stunning display at FOS 2016, Mike will be showcasing his incredible, rotary-engined, Mazda MX-5 ‘RADBUL’ – the third of his awesome collection of rotary drifting machines to star at the Festival. Last year Mike wowed the crowds in his RX-8 BADBUL after showcasing his world-famous MADBUL RX-7 in ’14 and ’15.

More details of the awesome competition, including how FOS visitors can join in with the all-important vote, will be announced over the next few weeks.
