Video: Roborace hillcllimb in 360 degrees
One of the most remarkable sights however must be that of the Roborace zipping its way up the Goodwood hill climb without putting a tyre wrong. Not only is it the world’s first fully autonomous racing car, it’s the first time anything like it has taken on the hill climb, but judging by the successful display, we’re sure it won’t be the last.
Anyone who experienced the sleek, stealthy, Tron-inspired machine search and plot its way up the track couldn’t help but be inspired. Using cameras and LiDar sensors, Roborace can map a 360-degree vision of its environment in real-time which corresponds to the car's GPS position and allows it to then proceed on detectable drivable surfaces. Impressive stuff.
If you missed the Friday climb, then never fear, Roborace has released a 360-degree video of its dawn practice run, so jump aboard and experience the future of racing.
