Gallery: Cologne Capri Works is a hillclimb howler

Classic Touring Icons is the name of its FoS class, and this Cologne Capri Works prepped by JD Classics is one of the class acts in a field stacked with delights.

It was built to Cologne spec in 1973 by Broadspeed for Ford Motor Co., originally with a 3.0-litre Westlake V6. Andy Rouse campaigned it in the Tourist Trophy before the car was was rebuilt by Ford Cologne in 1975 with a Ford-Cosworth 24-valve V6 engine developing 460hp at 8,750rpm. Owner Bo Emanuelsson won across Europe with the car and was even faster than Jochen Mass at the Nurburgring!

The Capri was rebuilt by JD Classics a couple of years ago, and is a popular campaigner at historic meetings including outings at Spa and Donington.

It’s driven this weekend at FoS by Chris Ward and Amanda Stretton – and its Cosworth GA engine note is unmistakeable!
